A Day in a Concord Life
Well, the past four days have been a bit of a tense blur. While I enjoy my day to day explorations in Concord, Ma I would have been happy not to explore my latest point of interest, Emerson Hospital. Emerson Hospital is located on the Old Road to Nine Acre Corner (known as ORNAC to locals) in Concord. I’ve been to Emerson when needed since I was 3 or 4 and both my children were born at Emerson. This week I went to take care of my husband, who being the outdoors lover that he is, contracted lyme disease along with a secondary tick related disease from doing work in the tall grass beyond our yard. This is just one of those things as New Englanders you endure, in exchange for gorgeous falls, classic winters, warm springs and temperate summers. The folks at Emerson were so wonderful. It came on fast and easily masks as other illnesses but they stabilized him well. It is very much the best of two worlds, still the community hospital, the friendly warm place I remember as a child but it has grown into a first rate institution with departmental expansions and an affiliation with world class Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

So, the moral of this story is, if you ever find yourself traveling in Concord and unfortunately ill, be confident when the ambulance says they are taking you to Emerson Hospital on bank of the Sudbury River – you’re in good hands.
