Long Summer Nights

It’s early evening, approximately 7:00p.m. and still prime time to be outdoors. Now with Dad’s complete recovery at hand (read July 16th entry)our two daughters, my husband and myself spent what might have been the best celebration of summer and life at this moment; we ran without a care and laughed till we dropped. Actually the four of us competed in what could best be described as a relay race. Parents competing against each other, at our six year olds suggestion and handing off the balls to our girls who finished off the race in a happy tumble of legs and arms. The air is warm, a soft breeze is present the sun is setting and a faint outline of the summer full moon is framed by the trees that border our property. Nights like this are stored away in our memories and treasured for a lifetime. The delight on the girls faces that their parents were playing with them could not be contained. Our four year old blurts out, “Mom, Dad I didn’t know you could really run”! Nice to know you can surprise your kids on occasion.
