High Style in Concord, MA
Aug 10th, 2007 by Lisa

Well this has been a busy week. Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming response to the “Concord life, online” article. I learned much from this experience including that all browsers are not created equal and anyone using Microsoft Explorer will not be seeing the whole site as it was meant to present. We are in the process now of remedying that situation and it should be visually correct in the next few days. Under these circumstances, I thought a little humor was in order, so if you’ll indulge me, I couldn’t resist this less than historically reverent mannequin/lamp/sign of a sort that resides outside of Concord Lamp & Shade in the Milldam district of Concord Center. For those of you of a generation, it is reminiscent of the infamous “Leg Lamp” in A Christmas Story. However, this is a classy gal with a lamp shade head. So clearly, as pristine and lovely as Concord Center is, there is a sense of humor here too.
The Concord Lamp & Shade store is, for many, worth a trip well beyond the closest lamp store, online or catalog option. Utterly unique, this store can take an antique, precious pottery or heirloom and transform it in their on-premises workshop into a lamp, matching it perfectly with the appropriate lampshade. Works of art are reinvented here into lamps. This has created a loyal following locally and abroad. Situated on Walden Street next to Priscilla Candy Shop, it is worth getting a close-up look at their sophisticated mannequin greeter and taking a stroll through Concord Lamp & Shade.
